Devin LeMahieu (Republican Party) is a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing District 9. He assumed office on January 5, 2015. His current term ends on January 4, 2027.

LeMahieu was born in Oostburg, Wisconsin, in 1972.[1][2] He attended Sheboygan County Christian High School and graduated from Dordt College with a bachelor's degree in political science and business administration in 1995.[2][3][4] In 2002, he became owner and publisher of Lakeshore Weekly, an advertising mailer business.[4][5]

LeMahieu was a member of the Sheboygan County Board from 2006 to 2015.[2][6] He was first elected to the Wisconsin State Senate in 2014, defeating Martha Laning (D) 60%-40% in the race for District 9.[7]

LeMahieu was elected as Senate majority leader in 2020, and re-elected in 2022 and 2024.[8][9][10] Following his 2024 re-election, LeMahieu said, "The number one issue we heard from voters was the effect of rising costs and inflation. Senate Republicans’ top priority will be returning the state’s surplus to hardworking families."[11]

In January 2025, LeMahieu said, "We have a four billion dollar surplus going into our next budget. When you have a huge surplus like that that means you're taxing too much. So, we want to give that money back to the taxpayers through tax relief to make their dollar go farther, to give them more money to go put food on the table, to pay their utility bills."[12]

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Wisconsin

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
