I have been a lifelong resident of Green Oak Township. A native of Livingston County, I graduated from Brighton Area High School. I went on to receive my B.A. in theology and ecclesiastical history from Hope College. I currently work as a civilian administrator for the City of Detroit Police Department. I reside here with my partner and our one cat.
  • Limiting the development of zonings classified as RM (multi-family) and R2 (single-family) to not see the rural character of our township destroyed.
  • Working closely with the Road Commission to ensure that adequate traffic studies are conducted as our township traffic has gotten worse and worse over the years.
  • A commitment to never raise taxes. Our township has gotten into the habit of requesting a millage every election. I wish to end that. Let's live within our means!
On a specific note, ensuring that the township master-plan is upheld. The incumbent Republican board undermines the very master-plan they voted for. Let's keep Green Oak's rural character a hallmark.
It ensures accountability in the government process. Trustees are exactly that, the one's we put trust into.
Bowling for Columbine, a movie produced by Michael Moore, inspired my political awakening as a young adult.
Ensuring that officials are well within the public's reach. You cannot just campaign for 4 months and then disappear. Officials should be heavily involved in the community and they should be visible.
Primarily, to ensure the fiduciary health of the township. Balancing budgets and ensuring the bills are paid on-time.
Trustees have tremendous powers in the political process. They are able to pass motions, resolutions, seek clarifications, vote on the Master Plan, and generally drive the township towards a specific direction when all work together.
Not necessarily. None of the incumbent trustees had prior experience so in essence I would starting in the same place as they did.
An ability to heavily analyze and scrutinize the current affairs of the township. One must be considerably involved, otherwise, their ability to be a team-player for the township is hindered.
The township should be as transparent as possible. Our township could definitely improve on this front. My biggest concern is that our officials currently give themselves tremendous pay raises each year. I would advocate an end to this.
