Dewey McClain (Democratic Party) is a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 109. He assumed office on January 9, 2023. His current term ends on January 11, 2027.
McClain (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives to represent District 109. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Dewey McClain was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and lives in Lawrenceville, Georgia.[1][2] McClain earned a B.A. in history and government from East Central University in 1976. His career experience includes working with the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency and playing in the National Football League with the Atlanta Falcons.[2][3]
McClain served as the president of the Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council AFL-CIO and the president of the Metro Atlanta NFL Players' Association Chapter. He has also served on the board of the NFLPA Gene Upshaw Players Assistance Trust Fund, the NFLPA National Former Players, the Metro Atlanta United Way, and the Gwinnett County Parks Foundation.[1][3]

The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Dewey L. McClain was unopposed in the Democratic primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[8][9][10]

Brian Thomas' (D) resignation to accept a position with Natural Resources Group in Lamoine, Maine. McClain was unopposed in the special election, which took place on November 5.[11][12]
