I am a current CCPS parent and have been an active parent volunteer for the past 13 years (including a longtime classroom volunteer; a PTO/PTSO President/officer for 8 years; a elementary school mentor; a member on 7 CCPS committees). I also served as a substitute teacher for 5 years. I have served on the BOE of Cecil County for the past 4 years, including 2 years as VP, and 1 year as President (which is my current role). I also serve on 3 Maryland Association of Boards of Education (MABE) committees, and was chosen as a MABE Board member. If re-elected, I will also continue in this role.

I am running for re-election because I care about all of the students we serve; I am in the schools, I see their diverse needs, and they deserve to receive a safe and high quality education so that they can become productive and successful citizens. I also see our teachers and staff in action, and they deserve our trust, support, and the resources they need to effectively do their jobs. I have been and will continue to put in the large amount of time necessary to advocate for these needs, help prepare a responsible budget, and work productively with CCPS leadership and stakeholders.

I do not serve through a political lens; I am open-minded and focused on fair and balanced solutions. I believe in working to make sure students can learn critical thinking skills and understand and respect differences and providing rigor and equitable opportunities and for them to reach their potential.
  • I will continue to advocate for a responsible budget that allows for safe and functional facilities, student and staff resources (including addressing mental health needs), and smaller class sizes
  • I am a CCPS parent who continues to promote positive parent involvement, curriculum transparency, and productive communication
  • I will continue to work to provide equitable opportunities for ALL students, including the needs of marginalized populations. It is important to continue to work to provide academic rigor, increased early intervention opportunities, and a quality college and career readiness program.
I have been working to make sure our education policies allow the superintendent to establish regulations and procedures to provide for quality learning, safety, and expectations for meeting the diverse needs of all of our students. The policies must be developed in accordance with the law; I believe in working with leadership to find ways to respect community values. I am passionate about serving with integrity and objectivity--and without a political lens. Education is NOT about imposing your personal beliefs or values on anyone, and the extremism we have recently experienced does not belong in public education. Our students are our future. The focus is always about meeting student needs, making connections, offering a variety of opportunities, and teaching them the critical thinking skills, knowledge, and tools they need to be successful in life.
