Campaign themes
2014
Rodriguez-Suruki's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Providing a High Quality Education for Every Child
- Excerpt: "Diana believes providing a high quality education for every child should be our state’s top priority. Unfortunately, California ranks near the bottom in the amount we spend per student. If elected, Diana will build upon her work in the education field by putting more funding into education and making sure existing resources are properly spent in the classroom."
Reducing Health Care Costs
- Excerpt: "Diana is a strong supporter of establishing a universal single payer health care system in California. However, until such a system can be established, she will utilize her experience as a manager in the State of California’s Health and Human Services Agency to lower costs by reducing Medi-Cal fraud and recovering funds from private health care providers who intentionally overbill the state for health care services."
Improving Public Safety
- Excerpt: "[I]f elected, she will utilize her knowledge of corrections issues to invest in programs that reduce youth gang activity, provide mental health treatment to non-violent offenders, and offer training programs for those who have completed their prison sentences so they can lead productive lives upon re-entering society rather than engaging in crime and illegal activity."
Fair Taxation
- Excerpt: "If elected, Diana will oppose tax increases that are harmful and unfair to working class families, while supporting changes to the tax code that ensure wealthy individuals pay their fair share in taxes."
Gender Equality
- Excerpt: "If elected, Diana will stand for equal pay for equal work policies in both public and private sector employment."
