Running for public office is purely an act of obedience, as God started stirring this call in me a few years ago. Looking back, I can see He has been preparing me for this my entire life, both professionally and personally. After the loss of my brother nearly 5 years ago, who was a Marine in Fast Company Special Forces, one of my main focus points will be Veteran issues. This will include new ideas around reducing veteran suicide and putting our Special Forces to work here at home to eradicate human trafficking.
- As a serial Entrepreneur, I have a storied history of collaboratively nurturing innovative ideas and bringing them to fruition! My skillsets were honed in the business world and in life's adversities, trials, and triumphs.
- As a Republican, I'm committed to upholding the constitution as it was intended and not allowing it to be dismembered.
- As a Christian, I believe that God's principals must be the gauge on which our laws are based, in order to prevent an 'anything goes' society.
Reducing Veteran Suicide; A Special Forces Task Force to eradicate human trafficking; Defending our 2nd Amendment; No Red Flag Law; Pro-Life and Pro Heartbeat Bill with new ideas to make it easier for women to choose life; Promoting Entrepreneurship and further supporting Small Businesses with new ideas around support, tools, and resources; One moral compass for society, as intended by our founding fathers, where God remains in our courtrooms, schoolhouses, and homes; Orderly Immigration and against Sanctuary Cities; Criminal Justice Reform.
Jesus Christ is my best friend and my compass.
Relatability; Strong Active Listening Skills; Creative Problem-Solving Skills; Strong Faith for Basing Decisions; Willingness to Collaborate and Reach Common Ground with Fellow Legislators on Both Sides of the Aisle; Accessibility; Firm Backbone; Being Decisive; Consistency; Great Communicator; Wise Delegator; Integrity; Honesty; Transparency
I have held Leadership roles since I began my career and I have always considered Leadership to be more of a "servant" position; After attending 22 schools growing up and living among many different demographics, I have a unique ability to relate to and understand many different types of people; I have always had the ability to master new information very quickly, especially in challenging environments; I have a great love for our nation and I would consider it an honor to serve the people of my community
I think the core responsibilities of this office are to thoroughly assimilate information from trusted sources and make good decisions that align with my beliefs and the beliefs of the people who elected me. I believe they trust me to vote according to our shared values. I take that very seriously.
Someone who helped people find common ground, connecting them to one another and to the best of our humanity.
At the age of 8 years old, my structured household as a Pastor's family was shattered when my father left my mom, my sister, and I. I share my entire bio in my book, "Lady Up + Don't Quit".
My first real, professional job was an Office Manager for a modernized, multi-doctor dental practice in the heart of Atlanta. I was there for 4 years. I had the opportunity to study and learn under incredible consultants that were routinely fine-tuning and polishing our already successful practice. These doctors showed me what a perfectly-run business looks like and it was foundational to my future business success as a Consultant.
As for modern books, Start With Why by Simon Sinek was life-changing for me. Simon helped me to understand that behind every role, service, product or idea, there is an underlying "why" that must be identified because it is crucial for success! He says, "People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it." I believe that is so true and without a strong enough "why", the work is futile and unsustainable.
I know what it feels like to be misunderstood, which gives me compassion for others who experience that.
I do think there is a learning curve, so in that sense, I do think it is helpful. But I don't think it is necessary if someone is a quick-study and willing to put in the time commitment to the people they serve. I have served as the Political Advocate for the Nashville Association of Women Business Owners, as well as on the Mayor's Business Advisory Council in Nashville. These were helpful to me in laying some foundation in how the government operates.
We have many challenges, but chief among them would be maintaining our moral compass in a media-driven society that is trying to erode it. Without a spiritual gauge to create laws, we can easily become an anything-goes society and lose God's favor we have enjoyed since our founding.
This quote from George Washington as he announced Thanksgiving supports my point:
"Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me "to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness." - George Washington, Thanksgiving Proclamation, 3 October 1789 Mutual respect for one another's roles, an ability to listen carefully to one another, and to weigh decisions thoughtfully with the good of the people in mind.
Yes, absolutely. Collaboration and the ability to consider other people's wisdom and points of view are critical to the success of our state and our country.
Yes. I would love to be a part of the Education, Judiciary, and/or Transportation committees.
Eventually, yes, I would. I want to first learn as much as I can as a Freshman and then I'll be able to better answer this question.
Yes. I admire many things about Beth Harwell's accomplishments. I am now representing her District #56 and I hope to make her proud.
Yes. I plan to run for US Senate in the future.
I hear many stories from the people in my District about their loved ones who have served in the military and who struggle ongoingly with PTSD, as my brother did. I also hear about the numerous medications they are prescribed in an effort to cope. We lose 22 veterans each day to suicide and I am on a mission to reduce this number and to also reduce the need for all of this medication with more sensible approaches to coping mechanisms.
