Collapse all
|- Education: In Georgia students encounter various hindrances to their educational growth, including inadequate funding, outdated infrastructure, and limited access to educational resources. These barriers lead to compromised learning environments, hampering students' ability to excel academically and prepare for future success. Our failing schools and poor academic performance demand immediate attention. We must implement effective strategies to improve attendance rates and reduce dropout rates. It is essential to demand better results from our schools and ensure that funding is distributed equitably.
- Housing: Affordable housing is a pressing concern that requires our attention. I propose implementing rent caps to make housing more affordable for individuals and families. Additionally, we need to pass legislation to provide individuals with a reasonable amount of time, more than 7 days, to address eviction notices. Revamping the foreclosure process is crucial, and we should establish a tougher system to prevent unnecessary foreclosures. It is also important to ensure that homeowners' associations (HOAs) cannot foreclose on properties without just cause. Furthermore, we need to address the issue of eviction records, as individuals can seal their criminal records but not their eviction records, leading to long-term housing difficulties.
- Gun Violence: Gun violence is a pressing issue that affects not only our district but the entire nation. Clair will labor to strengthen our gun laws to ensure the safety of our community. This includes implementing mandatory testing and licensing for gun owners, as well as providing comprehensive training on responsible gun ownership. By taking these measures, we can work towards reducing the incidence of gun violence and creating a safer environment for all residents. To combat the rising issue of gun violence, we need to strengthen our gun laws. This includes implementing testing, licensing, and training requirements to promote responsible gun ownership and reduce the risk of firearm-related incidents.
