Campaign themes

2017

Moffett's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Economic Development:
There is dignity in work. Greensboro citizens need jobs that provide living wages and businesses that help all people, including the poor to experience life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Moffett would like to develop a Mayor’s Business Roundtable, working with the Chamber of Commerce and other agencies to develop innovative solutions and business incentives that will jump-start our economy and get people to work.

Moreover, a talented workforce is needed in order to attract businesses to the city. There is a plethora of partnership opportunities with educational institutions located in the city of Greensboro, the Guilford County Schools, businesses and other agencies. Though the County funds education for the most part, Moffett believes that partnerships with the public school, colleges and universities, and other educational agencies will help underscore the value of education and encourage those who attend college in Greensboro to remain in the city after graduation and render their talent on behalf of Greensboro citizens.

Safety and Morale:
The safety and morale of all citizens impact the spirit of the city. Every resident should expect equal protection under the law. Moffett is committed to improving relationships between residents of Greensboro and public safety servants including the police, sheriff, and fire department officials. She is a firm believer that officers and people who protect the citizens of Greensboro should reflect the diversity of the community. She plans to listen, learn and lead in enriching the relationships with the community, and those who serve, creating energy, imagination and a spirit of love in the city.

Health Education & Wellness:
A vibrant community is a healthy community. Issues of poverty, and hunger impact the physical and mental well being of our great city. Moffett believes concerns regarding physical health, as well as mental health and substance abuse can best be addressed by locking arms and working with the county and other agencies. Moffett plans to think out of the box and create strategies that support the health and wellness of all citizens.[6]
