Diane Ritchie was a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. She was first elected to the court in 2008 and took office in January 2009.[1][2] Ritchie was defeated in her bid for re-election to the court in 2014 and stepped down at the end of her last term in the beginning of January 2015.[3][4]

Ritchie ran for re-election to the Santa Clara County Superior Court.
Primary: She was successful in the primary on June 3, 2014, receiving 42.31 percent of the vote. She competed against Annrae Angel and Matthew S. Harris.
General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 46.3 percent of the vote. She competed against Matthew S. Harris.In early October 2014, Judge Ritchie publicly stated that she would no longer actively campaign for re-election to the court, nor give any more money to her campaign. In a statement, Ritchie said: “Ritchie's opponent, Matthew S. Harris, said: "From Day One, this has been about Judge Ritchie's performance on the bench."[3][4] 

Education

Ritchie received her undergraduate degree from the University of California and her J.D. from Golden Gate University.[5]

Career

Prior to taking the bench, Ritchie practiced law at her own firm, Diane Ritchie and Associates.[6]
