Dianne Curry was a 2016 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 2nd Congressional District of Arkansas.[1]

Curry is a three-term member of the Little Rock School Board. She ran on the Democratic ticket for Lt. Governor in 2014. Had she been elected, Curry stood to be the first woman to serve as lieutenant governor and the first African-American to win a statewide election. She ultimately did not make it onto the 2014 primary ballot.

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Republican. Incumbent French Hill (R) defeated Dianne Curry (D), Chris Hayes (L), and write-in candidates Mathew Wescott and Charles Neely in the general election on November 8, 2016. Hill defeated Brock Olree in the Republican primary on March 1, 2016.[2][3][4]

Curry made a bid for Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas in the 2014 elections, though she dropped out of the race prior to the May 20 primary.[5] The general election took place on November 4, 2014.
