Dick Barta was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 18 of the Kansas State Senate.

Barta has served as Sheriff of Shawnee County since 2000. He was a member of the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War.[1]

Barta ran in the 2012 election for Kansas State Senate District 18. Barta defeated Cristina Fischer and Gary L. Parnell in the Republican primary on August 7 and was defeated by Laura Kelly (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]
