Campaign themes
2016
Clark's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
Creating quality jobs and economic opportunity
- Excerpt: "Nebraskans have a well-deserved reputation as hard workers. I will work to make sure our hard-working folks have the tools to prosper in our state. We need to protect (and grow!) family budgets by encouraging small business development, promoting quality job creation, and equipping folks to work in those quality jobs. "
Strengthening our schools
- Excerpt: "We need to support our schools and teachers in providing great educational choices for students and parents. For many students, the right choice is working toward college readiness, but there is a lot of great opportunity in the trades, too. Every young person has unique talents, and we should be mindful that one size does not fit all in education and career preparation. We need to do our best to show young people clear pathways from classroom to career, whatever that career might be."
Making every dollar count
- Excerpt: "We also have to make sure that government is a wise, responsible steward of your tax dollars. Every tax dollar that is misspent is a wasted opportunity! Those resources can't go toward growing a business, shoring up a family budget, or providing relief to people in need. Wise stewardship of public resources relies on finding the best evidence for which policies work and which ones don't work and governing accordingly."
