Three of the seven seats on the Dickinson Independent School District school board were up for general election on May 7, 2016. The seats in District 5, 6, and 7 were up for election. None of the incumbents filed for re-election. District 5 candidate Corey Magliolo and District 7 candidate David Swartz ran unopposed and won their respective seats. Jessica Rodriquez defeated Chad Rankin for the District 6 seat.[1][2]

Voter and candidate information

The Dickinson Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected by district to three-year terms. Each member resides in the single-member district they represent on the board. There was no primary election, and a general election took place on May 7, 2016, for Districts 5, 6 and 7.[1]

School board candidates submitted candidacy paperwork with the school district secretary by February 19, 2016. Each candidate must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and a resident of the district for at least six months.[3]
