Diego Rodriguez (Arizona)
Diego Rodriguez (Democratic Party) was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives, representing District 27. He assumed office in 2019. He left office on November 17, 2021.
Rodriguez (Democratic Party) ran for election for Attorney General of Arizona. He did not appear on the ballot for the Democratic primary on August 2, 2022.
Rodriguez resigned from the Arizona House of Representatives in November 2021 in order to run for Attorney General of Arizona.[1]Arizona is one of five states with a resign-to-run law, which requires officeholders to resign from their current office in order to run for another.
Rodriguez was a candidate for county attorney of Maricopa County, Arizona. Rodriguez was defeated in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Biography
Assemblymember Diego Rodriguez graduated from Notre Dame University in 1992 with a B.B.A. Three years later he received a J.D. from the University of Arizona's James E. Rogers College of Law. After graduation, Rodriguez served as Deputy County Attorney in Pima County. After his time as Deputy County Attorney, he started work as the owner of Rodriguez Law Office PLLC.[2]
Rodriguez was elected in November 2018 to represent Arizona's 27th District, which comprises Laveen, South Phoenix, and Guadalupe.[3] After the election, Rodriguez became a sitting member on the Elections Committee and Judiciary Committee.[4]

Maricopa County held elections for the county board of supervisors, county assessor, county attorney, county recorder, sheriff, county treasurer, and special districts in 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016. A primary election was held on August 30, 2016. The filing deadline for those wishing to run in this election was June 1, 2016.[5] Incumbent Bill Montgomery defeated Diego Rodriguez in the Maricopa County attorney general election.[6]
