An effort to recall Don Jones (R) from his position as the District 3 representative on the three-member Yellowstone County Commission in Montana began in November 2021.[1][2][3]

To get the recall on the ballot, recall supporters had to collect approximately 15,600 signatures by March 2, 2022. The recall did not progress to a vote as only 992 valid signatures were collected.[4]

Recall supporters

Martin Connell, a resident of Yellowstone County, started the recall process. He said he was dismayed that discussions about privatizing management of MetraPark seemed to happen without public input and that once a public hearing was held, it appeared to be a done deal. "It was clear to all present that Commissioner Jones held the hearings not to receive public input but to attempt to meet the requirement of holding public hearings after the decision had been made," Connell said.[1]

Recall opponents

Jones said that the county's duty is to figure out what the best, most cost-effective management structure is for MetraPark. He said that efforts to do that were open to the public.[1]
