Recall reports

An effort to recall City Council Member Don Overcash did not qualify for the November ballot in Loveland, Colorado. Recall organizers submitted sample petition language to Loveland City Clerk Delynn Coldiron on June 25, 2021. The draft petition was later rejected.[1][2]

Recall supporters

The Committee to Recall Don Overcash initiated the recall effort.[1] Organizers listed the following grounds for the recall on their website:[3]

  • "Fails to hold police accountable as liaison"
  • "Inappropriate relationships with director level officials"
  • "Backs big business and big donors"
  • "Violates sunshine laws"
  • "Makes a mockery of city council and executive privilege"
  • "Holds financial interests of big corporations in higher regard than those of Loveland"
  • "Bought and paid for"
  • "Attacks citizens from the dais and in the paper"
  • "Bad for small business"
  • "Does not represent and serve the majority of his elected ward"

Recall opponents

Overcash, who ran for Mayor of Loveland in 2021, called the recall effort "purely politics" and said, “I’m running to be the next mayor of Loveland because we need to unite Loveland. ... Everyone wants to be heard, understood and then see action.”[4][5]
