Don Schwieman was recalled from his position as Supervisor of Flushing Township in Genesee County, Michigan in an election that took place on February 23, 2010.[1] The petition was filed by Gerry Wood, a township resident and former town supervisor.
The recall effort was initiated after Schwieman was arrested for alleged drunken driving in Shiawassee County on September 3, 2009. Additionally, the recall language claimed that Schwieman has "misappropriated approximately $44,000 in township funds." The claim refers to a $44,000 payout to retired Chief Doug Kennedy.[2]
