Smith ran for election to the Anchorage Assembly to represent District 4 Seat F in Alaska. Smith lost in the general election on April 1, 2025.
Biography
Don Smith was formerly a member of the Alaska House of Representatives, serving from 1967 to 1968, a member of the Anchorage Assembly, serving from 1975 to 1985, and a member of the Anchorage School Board, serving from 2010 to 2013.[1]

The city of Anchorage, Alaska, held elections for city council on April 4, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 10, 2017. Six of the 11 city council seats were up for election.[2] Felix Rivera defeated Don Smith, Marcus Sanders, and Ron Alleva in the Anchorage Assembly, District 4-Seat G general election.[3]

Smith ran in the 2012 election for Alaska State Senate District 8 (H). He defeated Clint Hess in the August 28, 2012 Republican primary and was defeated by Berta Gardner (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[6][7][8]
