Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Abraham Lincoln. He can work together with rivalries and achieve a common goal.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

Hannah Arendt's "The Banality of Evil".

What legacy would you like to leave?

To build our school district to be top of the nation beyond academics and test scores. To integrate the less academically inclined students to discover their hidden potential and make their education experience fulfilling so they can carry their passion for learning for a lifetime.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first job was at the Stanford Hoover Institute as assistant research fellow.

What happened on your most awkward date?

My most awkward date was when I was pulled over by the police at the Stop sign. I often preach to others that it is important to follow traffic rules.

What is your favorite holiday? Why?

Thanksgiving! Because it's a noncommercial holiday. It also gave me time to reflect upon my work during the year and appreciate people who have supported and loved me.

What is your favorite book? Why?

Albert Camu's The Stranger.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

The old man in Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea".

What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?

My kitchen table or counter where I can meet with friends or family members to discuss thoughts, build trust and friendship.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Having hopes to do something that impact our lives, but still have not achieved it.

Who are your constituents?

A very diversified and changing demographic community in Silicon Valley.

How might you support the mental health needs of students/faculty/staff?

Mental health screening day once a semester free for all students. Educate parents and on how to identify mental distress and how to seek help.
