The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 10, 2014. Incumbent Michelle L. Cook was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Daniel T. Farley was unopposed in the Republican primary. Cook defeated Farley and Don V. Alexander (nonpartisan) in the general election.[2][3]
