An effort to recall Selectman Donald Banker did not go to a vote in Milo, Maine. Banker resigned on May 7, 2024.[1][2]
Recall supporters
According to the petition, the reason for the recall is "participation in clandestine meeting and failure to appoint officials in a timely manner."[1]
Recall opponents
Banker did not respond to a request for comment by Bangor Daily News.[3]

No specific grounds are required for recall in Maine. The recall of local officials in Maine is governed by local charters. Because of this, recall laws regarding signature requirements and circulation time vary by locality.[4]
According to Milo's charter, recall organizers would need to collect signatures from 10% of registered voters in Milo to trigger a recall election.[3]
