Primary: He was defeated in the primary on August 26, 2014, receiving 36.07 percent of the vote. He competed against Mark Jones.

Education
Barrett earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Georgia State University in 1992. He earned his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 1996.[3]
Career
Barrett's experience includes nine years as a prosecutor for the state of Florida, seven years of private practice and works at the State Attorney's Office.[4]
