Campaign themes

2013

Cox's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

  • Property tax relief
"Fight to give local officials the tools they need to responsibly reduce the size of government, limit spending and cap property taxes that have driven residents and business from our great state."
  • Real accountability and reform
"Take on tax and spend special interest and return accountable, fiscally responsible government to the people of New Jersey."
  • Job creation for New Jersey
"Eliminate burdensome red tape and cut taxes to make New Jersey a more affordable, attractive place do business and create jobs."

2011

In a questionnaire for the League of Women Voters of New Jersey Education Fund, Cox responded to the following issues:[3]

  • Property Taxes

"We need an entire look at how the municipalities of New Jersey were created, many from dividing up towns into smaller units, each with there own services. Funding of Education is a State issue by the Constitution of the U.S. and ultimately the State needs to look at a new method of funding."

  • Unemployment

"Oppressive taxation has caused $70,000,000,000 of wealth to leave for greener pastures in states with no income tax and free of oppressive regulations. My first order of business in the Senate would be to look at all of these to help develop industry and business in New Jersey."

  • Opportunity Scholarship Act

"I would support the “Opportunity Scholarship Act” to help low income children as an uplift to middle class. I have helped many children who grew up in the projects in Trenton to achieve success both in Trenton H.S., in College and in their careers."

  • State Aid to Municipalities

"Cut out much of the over-regulations that are costing towns so much unnecessary expenditure. Payment in lieu of taxes by the State is essential in municipalities that have many state facilities."

  • Energy

"We need to ASAP convert as much as we can to Solar energy. I personally built and placed three solar panels on my own roof in 1979 and have encouraged solar everywhere I can."
