Donald DeFronzo
Donald DeFronzo (b. August 24, 1948) is a former Democratic member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 6 from 2003 to 2011. In 2011, DeFronzo resigned to head the Department of Administrative Services.[1] A special election was held on February 22, 2011, to elect a replacement.[2] Prior to leaving the state Senate, he served as Assistant President Pro Tempore.
Biography
DeFronzo was a member of the Democratic State Central Committee from 1984 to 1986 and the Democratic Township Committee from 1978 to 2003. He served as Mayor of New Britain from 1989 to 1993.
Biography
DeFronzo earned his B.A. from Fairfield University in 1970 and his M.A. in public administration from the University of Connecticut in 1976. His professional experience includes working as a claims adjuster for the State Department of Labor, in the Office of Policy and Management for the State of Connecticut, as a respiratory therapist at Harford Hospital, senior planning analyst for the State of Connecticut from 1977 to 1989, CEO/Executive Director for the Human Resources Agency of New Britain, plan analyst for the Connecticut Association for Community Action, and adjunct faculty at Goodwin College.

On November 4, 2008, DeFronzo won re-election to the 6th District Seat in the Connecticut State Senate, defeating Thomas Bozek (R).[3]
