An effort in Taneytown, Maryland, to recall City Councilman Donald Frazier from his position did not go to a vote in 2017.
Recall supporters
Recall supporter Kelly Buie said that Frazier's removal would allow the mayor and city council to move forward without disruption. Frazier was censured by the city council in December 2015 for harassment of city employees after disagreements with City Clerk Clara Kalman and City Attorney Jack Gullo Jr.[1] He was censured again in May 2017 for acts of misconduct after posting photographs of a document to Facebook that were not approved by the mayor or city council.[2][3]
Recall opponents
Frazier made the following statement about the recall to local media:
| “ |
I ask a lot of questions and I hold their feet to the fire. I tend to be mouthy about right and wrong. I ask the tough questions and all their faces turn red. That's my role as a councilman. I'm just doing my job. I'm so thankful that I get a chance to do it. I find it enjoyable to be able to have an elevated opinion. I'm one out of five votes and I hope people value that.[2][4] |
