Donald G. Jacobsen is a judge of the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed to the court by Gov. Lawton Chiles, effective in June of 1997. He was re-elected to a new six-year term in 2016.[1][2]

Education

Jacobsen was born in New York, N.Y., on June 20, 1951. He received both his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Florida, in 1973 and 1976, respectively.[3][4]

Career

Jacobsen began his career in 1976 as a lawyer with the firm of Lane, Trohn, Clarke, Bertrand Vreeland & Jacobsen, P.A. He worked in civil litigation at that firm until 1997, when he was appointed to the circuit court. From 1995 to 1997, he also served as a hearing officer for the Lakeland[4]

Florida's 20 circuit courts all had seats up for election in 2016. Of the 151 seats up for election, 125 saw only one candidate file for the election. The unopposed races were canceled and the sole candidates were automatically elected. Of the 26 opposed races, only 10 saw more than two candidates file. [5]
