I am a lifelong Vermonter, Eagle Scout, and Christian (Lutheran). Graduated from Johnson State College in 1997, with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Music. Attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, discerning a call to ordained ministry, before returning to Vermont to pursue a different path. I have been a truck driver for over twenty years, and own and operate Cedarbrook Trucking, based in Barre, Vermont. I am now seeking to give back to the community, by serving the people as one of their Senators from the Washington Senatorial District.
  • Affordability. We need to pass a constitutional amendment, enacting a taxpayer’s bill of rights, limiting tax increases. We need to reform Act 250 to ease restrictions on building more affordable housing. We need to fix the education funding formula, to adequately fund education, without overburdening the taxpayers. We need to stop focusing our environmental policies on leading the nation, with unobtainable and ineffective initiatives and rather focus on Vermont, keeping our financial means in mind.
  • Transportation Infrastructure. We need to do more to fix our roads and bridges, and we need to prioritize local projects to assist with flood mitigation and climate resiliency.
  • Law and Order. We need to pass a constitutional amendment to end catch and release policies for repeat offenders. We need to fully support and fund law enforcement.
I firmly support the First and Second Amendments. I will not support any legislation that would hinder our rights, and will sponsor legislation which supports the rights of law abiding citizens.
Truth, Understanding, and Communication.

Always tell the truth. The people deserve no less than the complete truth without deceptive spin.

I will not support any legislation that I don’t understand well enough to explain, and will not vote for a bill I haven’t been given time to read.

The people have a right to know what their elected representatives are doing, and the representatives need to hear from their constituents.
To faithfully represent their constituents in a manner which represents what is best, even if it isn’t politically advantageous. A representative needs to listen to the constituents and do what is right, rather than being a rubber stamp for party leadership.
I’m running to serve God and the people the best I can. That’s all the legacy I care about.
The Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. I was eleven years old. It was the first time I saw the entire nation come together, united as one humanity.
Pumping gas at a local gas station when I was sixteen. I worked there for about a year, while also mowing lawns.
The rising cost of living, homelessness, mental health and addiction; which I believe are the root causes of violence and crime.
Vermont is best served by its citizen legislature. Some experience in government can be beneficial, but it isn’t necessary. A legislature of the people, by the people and for the people is what we pride ourselves on. I am a common person, with common sense, seeking to serve other common people. They are my peers, and I am no better or lesser than they are. I will always treat them with that respect.
Yes; on both sides of the isle. We need to strive to work together in cooperation, seeking a common understanding and serving a common goal, utilizing our varied ideological differences for better legislation.
My friend, former professor, and mentor; Senator William “Bill” Doyle; who also believed in communication as the basis of his leadership.
Six months ago, I didn’t think I’d be running for the senate; but the state of affairs under the current one-sided government has created an untenable situation. For the time being, local and state politics is where I feel my calling is.
No. The roles of the legislative and executive branches, are equal and distinct. Emergency power needs to rest with one person, acting within the laws as granted by the constitution and statute.
Transportation; Government Operations; Judiciary
