Donald Trump administration Secretary of Labor appointment, 2017
Following his election as the 45th President of the United States in 2016, Donald Trump and his transition team considered individuals to fill the position of Secretary of Labor. The secretary of labor aims to help workers, job seekers and retirees by creating standards for occupational safety, wages, hours and benefits and by compiling economic statistics.[1] Alexander Acosta was nominated for the position on February 15, 2017, and confirmed on April 27, 2017.

Timeline
- December 8, 2016: Trump nominated Andrew Puzder for the position.[2]
- February 15, 2017: Puzder withdrew his nomination amidst reports that he did not have sufficient support in the Senate to be confirmed.[3]
- February 15, 2017: Trump nominated Alexander Acosta for the position.[4]
- April 27, 2017: The U.S. Senate voted 60-38 to confirm Acosta.[5]
