Donald Trump announces bid for presidency

Donald Trump announced his bid for the presidency this morning at Trump Tower in New York City. Trump said, "I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again."[1] In his announcement speech, he largely focused on his success in the private sector and the fact that he is not a politician.[2]

Trump has no prior political experience; however, he has contemplated running for president a number of times in the past. Trump is the 12th Republican candidate to enter the race.[2]
