Donald W. Stephens was a superior court judge for the 10th Judicial District of the Third Division of the Superior Court, serving Wake County, North Carolina. He was appointed as a special superior court judge by former Governor Jim Hunt on December 28, 1984, and was sworn in on December 31.[1][2] Stephens retired on November 1, 2017.[3]

Education

Stephens received his B.S. and J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1967 and 1970, respectively.[1][4]

Career

Stephens began his career as a prosecutor with the Durham County District Attorney. After three years, he joined the state attorney general's office, where he served for nine years prior to his judicial appointment in late 1984.[1]

Stephens was re-elected without opposition on November 6, 2012.[5]
