Donn Kessler was a judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One.[1] He was appointed to the court by former Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano in 2003.[2] Kessler was retained in 2012 for a term that would have expired in 2019.[3][4] He retired from the court in 2017.[5]

Education

Kessler received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1972 and his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1975.[2]

Career

Kessler began his legal career as a deputy attorney general for the state of Hawaii. In 1978, he became an assistant attorney general for the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 1979, he joined the law firm of Christian Barton Epps Brent & Chappell in Richmond, Virginia, as an appellate attorney and litigator. He was in private practice with the law firm of Jennings Strouss & Salmon in Phoenix, Arizona, from 1982 to 1990, and then joined the firm of Ulrich, Kessler & Anger in Phoenix in 1991. Kessler became a staff attorney for the Arizona Supreme Court in 2000, and in 2002 he joined the firm of Jones Skelton & Hochuli in Phoenix.[2]

2012

Kessler was retained to the Arizona Court of Appeals with 66.68 percent of the vote in the general election on November 6, 2012.[7][3]
