I was raised in Cloverdale and graduated in 1976 from Cloverdale High School. My grandchildren currently attend Cloverdale and they are 5th generation Clovers. I love my community. I retired from First National Bank in Cloverdale after 47 years of service. I previously held President of our Girls Athletic Association (GAA) in high school along with being a part of several other clubs and organizations. Previously I was a Cub Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, PC Fair Barn Superintendent along with numerous other organization along with my church offices held and currently hold at the Cloverdale Church of the Nazarene. My husband is Larry Fidler snd he retired from Endeavor in 2010 after 37 years of service. Both of our sons live and work in Putnam County.
- Our Cloverdale Community School motto is “Success for Everyone”. Keeping in mind first in all decisions that the children are always the most important.
- I strive to achieve the best enjoyable and healthy school environment for the children. Along with quality academics and athletic opportunities.
- Since I have a financial background I feel I bring that strength to our board. We must maintain our facilities while striving to keep a manageable tax rate of our community.
I am passionate about all areas of public policy because they are all equally important.
My father is the first person I looked up too. He was a great example of work ethic and love. The second person was Dr Keith Ernst who was our local doctor and bank board of director. We called him “Doc”. He expected a lot of each employee but when (and is was rare) your received a compliment or a well done job from him you knew he truly meant it.
I would recommend to be the best person you can be each day by growing in knowledge everyday. We are never to old to learn.
I strive to set a good example in my personal life which will flow into my public life that I truly care with a heart of love for our school and all attendees.
I believe I have a good financial background which has, in my opinion, served the school board of trustees well in the past. I continue to strive to be the best person I can be each day. It is my hope that others around me see that quality and know that I love serving others.
Our main responsibility is to set and review policies along with our responsibility is the hire the superintendent for the corporation.
The legacy I would like to leave is you will only be truly happy if you serve others before you serve yourself.
There are so many. My parents always took us on vacation out of state. My Junior year in high school my older sister and I had the opportunity to go to Spain with a Spanish Club. My senior year in high school in track and field I went to regionals in High Jump. I also held our school record for several years.
I feel my very first job was a newspaper delivery girl in my community. I was not very old and rode my bicycle. Then I starting babysitting in my community. While in high school I worked in a local restaurant and helped in my mother at her feed store. After high school I obtained my job at First National Bank in Cloverdale where I worked for over 47 years.
I have 6 grandchildren and I love spending time with them. I don’t read much so I would say reading children’s books to them is my favorite.
I truly don’t know but Wonder Woman comes to mind. That way I could do more for others.
My dad is almost 90 and this past week I stayed with him to care for him. Every Sunday he watched gospel singing on TV. He loves “Amazing Grace” and they sang that song and we both song it out loud with them. It was a truly special time for me.
My mom had cancer early in life. She was always so sick and had health problems. But she never quit living life and working hard each and everyday for her family. It is hard when you want to help but sometimes it is not possible.
Oversee that policies are put in place and the hiring the superintendent to ensure quality education for our students.
My local community voters. Cloverdale area and three townships in northern Owen County, Indiana
I try my best to consider everyone’s needs however sometimes funding prohibits us to do as much as we truly would like to do.
I have served on the school board that I am seeking re-election and on the board we have done many survey’s to our community, organizations and stakeholders to get opinions from them.
A students test results and grades reflect good teaching. I know as do our teachers that all children do not learn the same way so encouraging out of the box thinking to teach each child in a way they receive the best education to be successful. We strive to give our teachers the tools they need to achieve these goals.
I rely on our administrators to keep up on technology and new courses or improved training and techniques available. In my past experience I believe they do a good job.
I attend school board regional meeting as much as possible and our superintendent keeps us updated on school funding from the State of Indiana.
In my opinion in today’s world I am troubled about what is going on in public schools. In this past few months we have upgraded all our school entrances because of safety for the children. So what drives me is the concern for all children to be kept safe each and everyday.
In my opinion out school works hard and assessing the needs of all.
I don’t have a favorite joke.
As of this moment I don’t have any new policies in mind. We are always reviewing and updating policies as the need arises.
My ideal learning environment is a fun but educational along with keeping all students happy and healthy.
We were so very blessed to have our local communication company that provides the best high speed internet. Yes the children still fell behind without in class instruction but the internet we had available helped to keep the children learning at a somewhat normal rate.
We have several opportunities to see and talk to people at many school functions and many public events in our community.
In my opinion we have many employees with many years of service. We encourage our superintendent to mentor administrators and in turn those administrators mentor the faculty and staff.
As I previously stated with my financial background I view all public finances should be transparent because as a board member you or in charge of the communities hard earned money. As I worked hard for my person funds I use the same caution with my responsibility spending my communities tax dollars.
