Three seats on the Alvord Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Incumbent Art Kaspereen Jr. ran against challenger Mia Villeta Alvarado for the Trustee Area 1 seat, and incumbent Greg Kraft ran against challenger Robert Schwandt for the Trustee Area 4 seat. Incumbent José Luis Pérez did not file for re-election, leaving the Trustee Area 3 race to two candidates, Donna K. Wandro and Julie Moreno.

Wandro highlighted the following issues on her campaign website:

I believe in the advancement of all students. As a district we need to strive to reach proficiency for all students and to build up and continue to acknowledge, work with, and support those that are proficient. We need to work on and improve communication with families and our community. We need to work on involvement by families and the community. We need to work together as a community, teachers, staff, families, and students to improve Alvord Unified School District and our students test schools.[5]
