A vote about whether to recall Donna Schatz from her position as a member of the Jacksonville City Council in Jacksonsville in Jackson County, Oregon took place on January 18, 2011. The recall effort failed and Schatz retained her position.[1]
Hubert Smith led the recall effort. He was not happy about the fact that in June 2010, the city council approved an $11 increase in a surcharge to fund the Fire Department.
Resignation of Mayor Garrett
Former mayor Bruce Garrett was also targeted in the recall effort. Garrett, however, chose to resign his position in December 2010 after it became clear that recall organizers had collected enough signatures to force a recall election.
