I am a 26-year old native New Yorker that can be best described as a moderate democrat. As a former member of the Army National Guard and a small business owner, I am committed to understanding and respecting the perspectives of my fellow New Yorkers. I believe my approach is the best way to represent the very diverse 49th district in the New York State Senate.
  • We must get back to focusing on common ground, while respecting each others differences, in order to create solutions that work for everyone.
  • A strong upstate economy is good for the entire state of New York. Each economic region can benefit from the collective strengths of the others.
  • Stagnant government is the result of "all or nothing" politics. We risk undermining all of the progress we have made by ignoring those with different perspectives.
I am most passionate about education reform. In order to keep good paying jobs in New York, we have to make sure that our students are receiving the highest quality education that we can give them. This includes expanding programs for more students to explore their professional interests BEFORE graduating from high school. Schools and teachers need the resources necessary to provide that experience. Without a competitive talent pool, companies will base their jobs elsewhere.
A State Senator should work with local officials and organizations to identify areas of need in their district, then work to find a meaningful solution, legislatively or otherwise. That will likely include bringing attention to that issue on the Senate floor, teaming up with members of the Assembly in their district, or communicating with the executive or judicial branch on behalf of the affected parties.

Major pieces of legislation that have an impact outside of their district should also be addressed with research, because their vote will still impact New Yorkers. Every State Senator should always act in a bi-partisan manner, but this is most important when confirming non-elected appointees and judges.
Whether as an elected official or a business leader, my goal is to maintain an environment where every person has an equal opportunity to pursue their own definition of successful.
I was 8 years old on 9/11/2001. I remember watching the footage of airplanes slamming into the iconic twin towers of the World Trade Center. People from around the world were calling in to share stories or try to give insight to what was unfolding before our eyes. The unity and hope that followed the tragedy is what I remember the most. It's a reminder that New York and the United States of America is best when focus on our common values - a critical lesson that should be remembered now, as the world faces yet another enormous challenge.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - I read it as a child, and it was a wild ride.
It is certainly beneficial to know the inner workings of government. However, an outside perspective is critical when long-time legislators become disconnected and only engage in party politics.
Over the next decade, we will face a changing climate, a post-pandemic economy, new threats to our cyber security, and an increasingly toxic political climate.
