Applyrs (Democratic Party, Working Families Party) ran for election for Mayor of Albany in New York. Applyrs won in the general election on November 4, 2025. Applyrs advanced from the Democratic primary on June 24, 2025.
Biography
Applyrs earned a master’s degree and doctorate in public health from the University at Albany School of Public Health.[1] Before she was elected mayor, Applyrs was Albany's Chief City Auditor and a member of the Albany Common Council representing the city’s first ward.[1] Her other career experience includes working as a clinical associate professor in the Health Policy, Management, and Behavior Department at the University at Albany School of Public Health as well as being a member of the Albany County Board of Public Health.[1]
