Doris Ling-Cohan
Doris Ling-Cohan is a justice for the New York County Supreme Court, Civil Term in the 1st Judicial District of New York. She was elected to this position in 2003.[1] Ling-Cohan ran unopposed for re-election in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Education
Ling-Cohan received her B.A. from Brooklyn College (City University of New York) and her J.D. from New York University.[1]
Career
Ling-Cohan began her career in 1979 working for MFY Legal Services and Bedford Stuyvesant Legal Services as a senior staff attorney and a managing attorney. She then worked as an assistant attorney general for New York State from 1986 to 1991. In 1993 and 1994, she served as associate counsel of the N.Y.C. Department for the Aging. She has also taught law at the City University of New York - Queens College.
Ling-Cohan was elected judge of the New York City Civil Court in 1996. She was then elected to the supreme court in 2003.[1]
