Doris Ling-Cohan (Democratic Party) was a judge of the New York Supreme Court 1st Judicial District.

Ling-Cohan (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for judge of the New York Supreme Court 1st Judicial District. She won in the general election on November 8, 2016.

Biography

Education

Ling-Cohan received her B.A. from Brooklyn College (City University of New York) and her J.D. from New York University.[1]

Career

Ling-Cohan began her career in 1979, working for MFY Legal Services and Bedford Stuyvesant Legal Services as a senior staff attorney and a managing attorney. She then worked as an assistant attorney general for New York State from 1986 to 1991. In 1993 and 1994, she served as associate counsel of the N.Y.C. Department for the Aging. She has also taught law at the City University of New York - Queens College.

Ling-Cohan was elected judge of the New York City Civil Court in 1996. She was then elected to the supreme court in 2003.[1]
