Doris M. Gonzalez is a justice of the Supreme Court 12th Judicial District of New York. She was elected in the general election on November 8, 2016. She previously served as an acting justice on the court from 2010 to 2016.

She was also a judge on the New York City Civil Court for Bronx County from 2007 to 2016.[1]

Education

Gonzalez received her J.D. from the City University of New York Law School at Queens College.[1]

Career

Gonzalez began her career in 1990, practicing with Hayes and Ryan Esqs. in New York County. She then worked for Sheft, Golub and Kamlet Esqs. (1997 to 1998), for Smith, Mazure, Director, et. al. (1998 to 1999), for Velella, Vellella, Basso & Calandra Esqs. in Bronx County (1999 to 2000) and for Hayes and Mensching Esqs. in Kings County (2000 to 2004). She then worked as a principal law clerk of the New York court system from 2005 until her judicial elected in 2007.[1]

New York held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election was held on September 13, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates who wish to run in this election was July 14, 2016.[2] La Tia W. Martin, Doris M. Gonzalez, and Donald A. Miles were unopposed in the general election for three open seats on the New York Supreme Court 12th Judicial District.[3]
