Doug Fisher
Doug Fisher was the New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture. Fisher assumed office on February 10, 2009. Fisher left office on July 1, 2023.
Biography
Following his graduation from Bryant University, Fisher served in the New Jersey National Guard from 1969 to 1975. In 1971, he began a 30-year career as a supermarket owner and operator. After that, he worked as a realtor and New Jersey owner of The Entrepreneur’s Source.
Fisher began his political career in 1989 as a member of the Bridgeton City Council. He would go on to serve 10 years on the Cumberland County Freeholder Board until he was elected to the New Jersey State Assembly. He represented the 3rd District from 2001 to 2009.[1]

Fisher was appointed as New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture by the State Board of Agriculture in 2009. His appointment was approved by Gov. Jon Corzine on February 10, 2009.
In January 2010, Gov. Chris Christie (R) stated his support for keeping Fisher as secretary, saying, "Secretary Douglas Fisher has proven to have a deep appreciation for New Jersey's agricultural community. I support his position as secretary for the New Jersey Department of Agriculture and look forward to working with him to promote and protect our state's natural assets."[2]
