I grew up in Grand Rapids, MN with seven siblings. My father was a forester and mother was a schoolteacher. After graduating from Dartmouth College, I returned to MN. I’ve lived in Edina for 26 years with my wife, Cindy. Raising four children, we’ve seen all corners of our Edina-Bloomington district through sports, restaurants, shopping, and parks.

As a Scoutmaster for BSA Scouting the past 15 years and a former chair of both Our Lady of Grace Parish Council and Men’s Club, I have had the opportunity to work with others to make a difference. I served on the Minnesota State Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for six years. Working in commercial real estate over the past 35 years with small entrepreneurial businesses and large corporate companies has instilled in me the value of idea generation, problem solving, and collaboration. I’m passionate about good paying employment opportunities where all of us can share our talents and feel good about being productive and valued citizens. I support our police and know there is always room for improvement. We need to get a handle on crime in our neighborhoods and across MN, and we need to keep our schools safe.

Let’s work together – you and me, Edina and Bloomington. I have raised my family here, worked here, worshipped here, and played here…just like you! Together, we can help our communities thrive and improve the quality of life for everyone!
When I am elected your state senator, I promise that I will be a tireless advocate for families and work to relieve the stressors and concerns we are all facing in a post-COVID Minnesota. One issue that I am focused on is safe and successful schools. Here is what you need to know:

We need to focus on learning recovery to quickly regain what was lost during COVID. Our kids need to be brought up to speed immediately

Using budget surplus funds to develop high-impact tutoring programs for small groups or one-on-one for any student who needs it.

Safer schools and grounds with school resource officers in EVERY school, mental health professionals and social services available to all students & staff on a consistent basis

Expand access to before/after school learning programs and summer-school education opportunities

Continue to support school choice options for families that are looking for alternative learning facilities for their children.
