Doug Mann (Minnesota)
Doug Mann ran for election for an at-large seat of the Minneapolis Board of Education in Minnesota. Mann lost in the primary on August 11, 2020.
Mann unsuccessfully ran for a board seat in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018.[1][2]
Biography
Mann is a licensed practical nurse. He served on the Minneapolis NAACP Branch Education Advocacy Committee from 1998 to 1999, the Minneapolis Parents Union Board of Directors from 1998 to 2001, and the NAACP MN-Dakota Conference Education Advocacy Committee in 2003. Mann earned an associate degree and Practical Nursing Diploma from the Minneapolis Community and Technical College. He is the father of a district graduate.[3]

2016
Four of the nine seats on the Minneapolis Public Schools Board of Education were up for general election on November 8, 2016. Incumbent Kim Ellison ran for the at-large seat, leaving her District 2 seat open for a newcomer. She faced challenger Doug Mann. The race for the open District 2 seat featured candidates Kimberly Caprini and Kerry Jo Felder. In District 4, incumbent Josh Reimnitz ran against challenger Bob Walser. In her bid for re-election in District 6, incumbent Tracine Asberry faced challenger Ira Jourdain. Ellison, Felder, Walser, and Jourdain won the election.[2][4][5][6][7]

Mann reported no contributions or expenditures to the Hennepin County Elections in the election.[8]
Endorsements
Mann was endorsed by the Green Party, the New Progressive Alliance, and the Democratic Socialists of America.[9][10]
2014
The election in Minneapolis featured five seats up for general election on November 4, 2014. The primary election was held on August 12, 2014. Incumbent Rebecca Gagnon ran against six challengers to retain her at-large seat. Two newcomers, Nelson Inz and Jay Larson, competed for the District 5 seat. District 1 incumbent Jenny Arneson and District 3 newcomer Siad Ali ran unopposed to win their seats. In addition to Arneson and Ali, Gagnon and challenger Don Samuels won the two at-large seats, and Inz won the District 5 seat.
