Doug McKillip
Doug McKillip (Republican Party) is running for election to the Georgia State Senate to represent District 46. He declared candidacy for the 2026 election.[source]
McKillip (Republican Party) was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 115. He assumed office in 2007. He left office in 2013.
Biography
McKillip's professional experience includes working as an attorney for Lancaster and McKillip, Professional Corporation, for Winburn, Lewis & Barrow, Professional Corporation, and for McKillip Law Firm, Limited Liability Company.
He is a member of the Cedar Creek Homeowners Civic Association, vice president of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, member of the Georgia State Bar Association, and member of the First Presbyterian Church.[1]
Party switch
Following his re-election as a Democrat in the 2010 general election, McKillip switched to the Republican Party. He explained, "As an independent-minded Republican, I can accomplish a great deal for my constituents and my city." Before the switch, McKillip had been elected to serve as minority caucus leader -- one of the top three leadership positions.[2]

McKillip ran in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 117. McKillip was defeated by Regina Quick in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. No candidates filed to run in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4][5]

2010
McKillip ran for re-election to the 115th District seat in 2010. He did not have any opposition in the July 20 primary and no one ran against him in the general election on November 2, 2010.[6]
