2014

Miller's website highlighted the following campaign themes:

Jobs

Indiana is seated at the “Crossroads of America”. This district is entrepreneurial and creates goods and services that export locally, nationally and worldwide. This means jobs in all categories. To support, grow and retain our youth, a strong educational system will have to include vastly increased opportunities for Vocational and Technical training. I will work avidly with local industry to design and build learning platforms that can equip and educate today’s and tomorrow’s workforce.

When elected, I will work with EDC to bring employment and businesses to this district that will be long term partners with our community and add value to the region.[8][9]

Education

Priorities will include spending more money on classroom learning and teaching, while reducing wasteful school administration. The value of education is found directly in the classroom and I will work to ensure taxpayer dollars are put to good use. I also recognize that parents know best what the needs and learning styles of each student are. To best serve the children and the families[10][9]

Property Taxes

Lower taxes and less government trigger economic growth. Low taxes mean Hoosiers keep more of their hard earned dollars while giving entrepreneurs heightened incentive to succeed. Lowering taxes must work in combination of reducing government. Government must follow the example of private sector by working efficiently. Tax cuts can be achieved by limiting spending at both the state and local level.[11][9]

Economic Development

When companies and citizens choose to use local businesses, the money spent increases economic opportunity while tax dollars generated build infrastructure and pay for local government. As a legislator, I will work to ensure that taxpayer money generated in Indiana will be spent in Indiana on goods or services produced by Hoosiers, whenever possible.[12][9]

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Indiana

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Indiana scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
