I am a fifth-generation Idaho resident. I have been a lifelong Republican and have voted in every election. I feel the need to use my lifelong community involvement to add some common sense to Idaho politics. I would probably be the oldest legislator, with a lifetime of experience, to help with the direction the State of Idaho should take.
  • I am obsessed with the truth. I can usually tell when someone is lying to me. I will be honest.
  • I am a family man. I have been married to the same wonderful woman for over 60 years, which may tell you about my ability to adapt and compromise but not violate basic principles. I want to help Idaho be a place where families can live in peace and prosperity.
  • Taxes! My goal is to reduce as many taxes as possible. First, I will work hard to repeal the grocery tax. I will propose a code that will allow those who have lived in their house and have paid property tax for 20 years or more not to pay any more property tax. I believe the lost revenue can be made up by reducing the glut in many programs.
How the state deals with Abortion, wildlife management, forest management, water management, election security, non-citizens, and our relationship with the Federal Government.
The most crucial responsibility is understanding and advocating for those living in Legislative District 16.
I won a trip to New York. I made a personal broadcast on Voice of America / Radio Free Europe. The trip included an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Jack Dempsey was our escort. We were also recognized during the 7th inning at Abbots Field. The flight to and from was on an American Airlines DC3. It made seven hops from Boise to N.Y. I was 12 at the time.
A paperboy for the Idaho Statesman. I have delivered papers four or five times over my life.
All the Scriptures. The lessons help guide you with life's choices.
It can be, but it can also limit the ability to be open-minded. Someone new to the process may require explanations that can clarify issues.
The legislative process is collaborative. To be effective, you have to build relationships and shared interests.
I am most familiar with Senator Scott Grow. I like his approach to the legislative process.
