Incumbent RTD District H Director. Past Chairman of the RTD Board for two terms. American Public Transportation Association Executive Committee and Board of Directors and Chair of TBM Legislative Committee. Former Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and Councilmember in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado ("#1 Best Suburb of America to Live In"). Former Denver Regional Council of Governments officer, Executive Committee and Board. Former Metro Mayors Caucus Executive Committee. Former Chair of Colorado State Board of Psychotherapists. Former Denver Zoo Board of Governors member. Attorney in private practice since 1975.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Providing public transportation that is safe, clean, reliable, courteous, accessible and cost-effective throughout the Denver metro region.

What qualities does this office possess that makes it a unique and important part of the state government and legal system?

The RTD in Denver is one of only three elected transit Boards in the United States. It is a creature of the Colorado General Assembly that is charged with operating, developing and maintaining commuter rail, light rail, regional bus, local bus, and paratransit services throughout a 2,400 square mile region with over 3.2 million residents. The Directors answer to voters every four years, ensuring accountability and responsiveness.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

My Father. Chuck Tisdale was the most patient, understanding and loving person that I ever knew. He endured countless personal hardships, especially losing his mother, his father and his older son within the span of three years. Despite all that, he was kind and gracious. It was said of him that he never met a stranger. And on the backside of his desk nameplate he had engraved the words, "This Too Will Pass." I pray that I can be just half as good a person as he. If so, I'll be a very good man.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity. Transparency. Accountability. Responsiveness. The ability to listen closely.

What legacy would you like to leave?

He listened. He acted. He accomplished.

What responsibilities of this office do you personally consider the most important?

Ensuring regional and social equity in services. Confirming that we continue to communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with all of our constituents, stakeholders, and partners.

Are there any little-known powers or responsibilities held by this office that you believe more people should be aware of?

Responding directly to service complaints lodged by constituents.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for holders of this office to have previous experience in government or politics?

I believe that it is critical to have prior governmental experience in order to guarantee that there is an understanding of how governmental bodies function and become an effective contributor on the first day.

What kind of skills or expertise do you believe would be the most helpful for the holders of this office to possess?

A legal background is extremely beneficial, along with business and finance experience.
