Douglas Bennett was a Democratic member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 92 from January 1, 2005 to January 1, 2011.

Rep. Bennett was born and raised in Muskegon. He graduated from Ravenna High School in 1962 and attended Muskegon Community College. He served as an apprentice in the United Association Muskegon, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 154, graduating as a journeyman steamfitter in 1971. He worked for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union until 2003.

Bennett died on July 16, 2021, in a motorcycle crash.[1] He lived in Muskegon with his wife Helene, to whom he had been married since 1970. He had three adult children and several grandchildren.

Bennett served as Muskegon County Commissioner 1999-2004.

Political campaign history

In 2004, he was elected to the Michigan State House to replace Julie Dennis, who retired due to term limits. He represented the 92nd District. He was re-elected in 2006 with little opposition. He also served on the Appropriations Committee.
