Douglas Butzier
Douglas Butzier was a 2014 Libertarian candidate seeking election to the U.S. Senate from Iowa.[1] Butzier died in a plane crash outside of Dubuque on the night of Monday October 13, 2014. He was flying alone on his single-engine plane when he crashed.[2] His party did not garner enough votes in the general election to defeat the winner, Joni Ernst (R).[3]

Butzier was running in the 2014 election for the U.S. Senate, to represent Iowa. Before his death in a plane crash, Butzier was seeking election as a Libertarian candidate. Butzier's name still appeared on the ballot. The party did not receive enough support in the general election to defeat the winner, Joni Ernst (R).[3]
