Douglas Combs appointed to Oklahoma Supreme Court
November 6, 2010
Oklahoma: Yesterday, Governor Brad Henry appointed Douglas L. Combs to the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Combs will succeed Rudolph Hargrave upon his retirement December 31, 2010.[1]
Combs has served as a judge on the 23rd District Court since 2003. In this year's general election, three days before the appointment was announced, he was re-elected after running unopposed. Combs has also served as an assistant state attorney general and as a deputy clerk for the Supreme Court in Oklahoma.[2][1]
Of the appointment, Governor Henry said, "Judge Combs has the temperament, intellect and experience to be an outstanding Supreme Court Justice. He has a long history of public service, and I know he will perform his new duties with the greatest professionalism, integrity and sense of duty to the citizens of our state.”[1]
Combs will serve until the next general election, when he will have to be retained by voters if he wishes to keep his seat.[3]
