Campaign themes
2014
Haaland's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Job Promotion
- Excerpt: "Our elected leaders should be focusing on giving people the opportunity to succeed on their own, without the additional burdens placed on them by our elected leaders. Giving Californians willing to take a risk by turning their dreams into realities by opening a small business is what creates jobs."
Education
- Excerpt: "Schools and Teachers lack accountability and Parents lack the information they need to make better choices about their children’s education. We can’t address falling test scores without addressing our crumbling schools."
Public Safety
- Excerpt: "There is nothing more important than protecting the ones we love. Ensuring the safety of our Communities, our Neighborhoods, our Schools, our place of business, our homes and our families must be the priority."
Highways and Waterways
- Excerpt: "Planning for future events was part of being elected and those days are gone. Today band-aids and rapid response is how the state solves problems. We cannot sustain this course of action. We need to prepare for drier years by saving the water we receive in wetter years."
