Douglas L. Jarman

Douglas L. Jarman is a judge serving the 4th Circuit Court in Illinois. He was appointed in October 2009 to fill the vacancy left by the retired Judge John P. Coady. He won election to his seat in 2010.[1] Jarman was retained in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Education
Jarman earned an undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University, going on to receive his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1985.[2]
Career
Prior to his judicial appointment in 2009, Jarman was a solo practitioner in Hillsboro, Illinois. He has served as an attorney for the City of Hillsboro and the Villages of Panama and Irving.[2]

Judges of the Illinois Circuit Court stand for retention after their first full term. To be retained, a judge must receive at least 60 percent of the vote.[3][4] Douglas L. Jarman was retained in the Illinois Fourth Circuit Court, Douglas Jarman Retention Election with 73.95 percent of the vote.

Jarman ran for election to the seat he was appointed to in 2009. He defeated Michelle Coady with 62.32 percent of the vote in the general election.[5][6]
